Now that He is Almost Two, here is a Jacob Update!

Jacob Matthew is 20 months old. About 36" tall and 32lbs, roughly about the size of your average three year old ;) no big deal! ha! This first year of toddlerhood has been a lot of fun.  By his first birthday he had all of his teeth including his molars so we had a nice break from teething until about 18 months when his two year molars started coming in!! He only has one more to go!
Jacob took a couple of steps on Easter at about 11 1/2 months but he didn't really start walking until 13 1/2 months which is also when he completely gave up his bottle!!Still loves his binky but we are working on that. It's my goal to have it gone by 2 1/2.
He doesn't talk much but he finds other ways to communicate so his doctor wasn't too concerned at his 18 month check up. She had me fill out an Autism spectrum questionnaire as well which I think is common practice so that also showed no need for concern. I wouldn't be surprised though if he still isn't talking well by his 2 year check up that we are referred to a speech therapist. It's hard for us not to compare him to RaeAnn who was talking by 17 months. But I've been told boys are slower to talk and RaeAnn speaks up for him a lot which I've been told is also a reason for the delay. His first word was "Bye" and he does say a handful of words like "duck" "all gone" "who's that?" "bite" "ball" and "Dad" still no "mom" which break my heart. But I know he loves me the most so it's ok ;)
He really is such a momma's boy but he loves to rough house. Just this week he gave me a fat lip when he decided to jump out of my lap and knee me in the mouth!!  He loves to climb on everything even the kitchen table!! He is just all boy.
Knock on wood, he has become such a good sleeper. He'll nap for 2-3 hours midday and then sleep from 7pm to 7am...sometimes even 8!! We've set up a "big boy" bed in his room, but he isn't ready to transition just yet. We just needed the extra space in the playroom after all their new Christmas presents filled it up!
He is a good eater such a nice change from his very picky sister! He loves all my home cooking.
When he isn't eating that's when we know something's up. For instance his teeth or the nasty cough he is just getting over that started before Christmas! But back in November was the worst. He had a nasty virus with a fever that wouldn't break and got up to 104.8!! lots of calls to the pediatrician that week, it turned out to be Roseola. I just felt so bad for my baby, since there was absolutely nothing I could do except keeping up the motrin and tylenol.

So now you're up to date with my main man. Here are a couple pictures to go along with it!!
