it all makes sense now.

When Thurman was in Turkey he had very hard time with his job. His job is very specific to whatever base he is stationed at. So at every new base he needs to go through a couple months of training before he can be certified to work on that base. While in Turkey, Thurman had two chances to certify and both times he didn't which wasn't good. Both times his chain of command had to decide if he could stay in the military or not. It made the 15 months we were apart even harder than they had to be.
Thurman knew it was partly his fault but also to blame was the training program that he had gone through at his first base and then in Turkey. People weren't doing their jobs, they were "pencil whipping" records and not taking the time to make sure the trainee understood what they were telling them before they signed off on it.
So each time Thurman had to wait for his chain of command to decide if he could stay in the military or not he would be studying. He learned everything he could about his job. And by the time he left Turkey he was very sufficient in his job, even though his chain of command still had no decided his fate yet.
So fast forward about 5 months and Thurman finally gets his job back, he certifies here the first time around. And when his office is inspected for training efficiency THURMAN is the only person in the whole office to answer the inspector's questions! So the training manger is fired and his replacement is non other than the man who was about to get kicked out for "not knowing the job" yeah. It's crazy!
Fast forward to this month and we got the greatest news of all...THURMAN MADE HIS PROMOTION!!! He is now a Staff Sergeant!!
I am so happy that the past 2 years were not in vain. Everything really did happen for a reason!
You just have to wait for it to all work out. Even though I was thankful for Thurman to be able to keep his job, I still questioned why we were apart for 15 months, why we had to fight over his job constantly. Why I had to worry...and here is my answer. It all worked out and even better than I could have hoped for. He has a sweet job with a sweet schedule (that will work so much better for our family) and most importantly he made his promotion, all that studying and retraining really paid off in the end. I could not be more proud of him :) (or more relieved!!!)
